Where are some of the best neighborhoods in the Chattanooga area? Join us as we look at a few of the most popular destinations for home buyers throughout the Tennessee Valley.

Set at the foot of majestic wooded mountain ridges and surrounding the beautiful Soddy Lake, Soddy-Daisy offers an attractive blend of rural and urban life.

With Chattanooga less than twenty minutes away, you can enjoy the pleasures and conveniences of a large metropolitan area mixed with the small-town friendliness and charm of this growing gem.

Here's a quick overview of what the area has to offer.

LOCATION

Soddy-Daisy is located in Northwest Hamilton County, roughly 15 miles from Downtown Chattanooga. It’s easily accessible via Dayton Pike and Highway 27, which connects to Highway 153 and I-24. The Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport is just 20 minutes away.

SCHOOLS

The community is home to two public high schools — Soddy-Daisy and Sequoyah — and Ivy Academy, a public charter middle and high school. Students are also served by Soddy-Daisy Middle School, three elementary schools (Allen, Daisy, and Soddy), and Skillern Elementary, a K-5 public charter school.

DINING

Soddy-Daisy might have the most underrated dining scene in the entire Chattanooga area. The rustic Steve’s Landing Waterfront Grill serves up award-winning ribs, catfish, steaks, chicken, and burgers. You won’t find a better meat and three than Wimpies Country Restaurant, and the always-busy Home Folks Family Restaurant has been feeding families for nearly 40 decades. Craving BBQ or Mexican? Hit up Shuford’s or Delia’s. Get one of the best burgers anywhere at Merv’s. End the day with an old-fashioned ice cream sundae or banana split at Kay’s Kastles.

SHOPPING

While Soddy-Daisy has its fair share of national staples, it’s more known as a hotspot for thrift stores, antiques, and boutiques. You can find great finds at the Here We Go Again Resale Shop, Neighborhood House, and Soddy Thrift Store. And don’t skip Playing Hookey Antiques or Sharp’s Antiques and Estate Sales. Pixel Dome Video Games doesn’t play games when it comes to stocking modern and vintage games and consoles. The Cottage Closet offers a wonderful selection of "boutique" clothing and jewelry, as well as consignment clothing, shoes, and purses that can dress up any wardrobe. Soddy-Daisy is also home to a farmer’s market from May to October.

ACTIVITIES

Soddy Lake is the focal point for activity for the community, providing a beautiful (and popular) spot for fishing, swimming, and picnicking. The area is also home to five parks with an array of walking trails, playgrounds, picnic tables, and pavilions. Be sure to check out the hiking trails, stunning views, and waterfall at Big Soddy Creek Gulf. There’s always something goin on at the Soddy-Daisy Community Library, from story times and book club discussions, to ukulele lessons, baking classes, art contests, and movie nights.
